Reverend Timothy Burke woke with sweat standing on his forehead. The dream, no, nightmare, had been awful. As the seconds passed, the nightmare began to fade until the clear pictures turned into a hazy, distorted, broken pattern of lost thoughts. That eighteen-year-old girl that was found early Sunday wondering, disorientated and with her throat bruised and slightly, oh so slightly, torn and her skin pale, 'emptied of blood, my God, it's true', was in the dream/nightmare. She was there, then it faded. And Vanessa Laborteaux. He had seduced her, in his dream/nightmare. He had not been so lucky the night before. She had been too sincere about this story of hers. Could it really be true? Would it help if he prayed to God for her and her sister ? Her sister ? He would just have to stay inside and not answer the door for the next few days, that's all, until it all blew over. And it would blow over, wouldn't it?
